Abstract

Role-play is a psychodramatic technique that contributes to the development of a social, personal, or professional role, either performed or to be assumed. This study is an integrative literature review, aimed at identifying the contexts in which the role-play technique has been applied, including the target public, participant samples, objectives, contexts, and outcomes. Twelve publications were included in this research. There is a variety of target public, samples and contexts. The objectives focused on social and communication aspects. The results of applying role-play included enhanced security in the role development, empathy, identification of future anxieties, expanded awareness, and coping strategies. The conclusion is that roleplay demonstrates effective applicability in several environments involving role development.
