Sociometry aims to investigate/measure interpersonal relationships. One of the sociometric techniques for use in individual practice is the social atom, which is characterized as the set of emotionally significant relationships that the subject establishes. The objective of the article was to investigate the use of the social atom for the psychodiagnosis procedure. A qualitative approach was used, using the experience report as a method. The analysis of the clinical case served to understand how the atom can help in the construction of a more comprehensive psychological assessment, enabling the ludic and participatory investigation of the psychic dynamics of the subject and his demand. It was interesting to note that the information brought by the atom collaborated with the findings of the other techniques employed.
